Collection of four scrapbooks about Addie Joss, apparently compiled by members of his family, consisting primarily of newspaper clippings covering Joss's playing and sportswriting career from 1900 until his death in 1911. Volume 1 (bulk 1900-1903) consists primarily of clippings written about and by Joss. Volume 2 (bulk apparently 1903) highlights include clippings of poems about baseball by Grantland Rice, Herbert W. Joyce, and John Taylor Waldorf, as well as two pages of photo rosters of eight American League teams of 1903. Volume 3 (bulk 1911) highlights include approximately 25 pages of clippings about Joss's death on April 14, 1911, including tributes from players and accounts of the "Joss Day" all-star game played in Cleveland on July 24, 1911, to benefit Mrs. Joss. The remainder of Volume 3 is devoted to clippings of Joss's sportswriting, including his columns, "Observations and Comment," "Right Off the Bat," "Winter Base Ball," and "Balls & Strikes." Other items of note include two pencil and crayon drawings depicting Joss and captioned "King of Pitchers" and "Greatest of Pitchers." Volume 4 (bulk apparently 1906-1907) highlights include clippings from 1929-1959 about baseball which mention Joss's significance to the game, and two collections of articles focusing on the dedication of the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame on November 28, 1951, into which Joss was inducted upon its dedication.
